Personalized poker chips have become highly
sought after recently. With the glut of chips around today,
numerous players are wanting something different than what everyone else has, and
having their own personalized poker
chips is the answer to this dilemma.
Personalized poker chips can be made with gold
stamping, paper labels, or applying more advanced vinyl
substrate printing procedures. Hot gold stamping has its
need. You might hot stamp initials or a logotype in gold into a
poker chip. A personalized poker chip created with gold hot
stamping does not wear down too easily since it's embossed into
the chip. The gold color may get blacker as time moves ahead,
but the stamp will remain permanent.
Nothing great with gold stamping, it lends a
decent effect, and typically cost roughly $.12 per chip. Only a
short while ago, the only personalized poker chips you might get
were made with hot gold stamping. Things have varied fast.
Currently numerous poker retailers are offering personalized poker chips done with
printed gloss paper labels.
DON'T PURCHASE PERSONALIZED POKER CHIPS MADE
BY USING PAPER
LABELS!
Still, if they say the paper is gloss surfaced,
do not purchase them. You'll regret you did. Paper labels are
printed with standard inkjet printers. They appear decent at
first, but have extremely poor endurance. Just after 30 days, personalized poker chips created with
paper labels begin to scuff and peel off.
One player in our weekly game had some paper
labels set on a brand new set of Nexgen's. Nexgens are a decent chip, but when the
labels began to wear down, the chips were done. Unlike the
gradual and mellow wear an authentic clay poker chip goes
through, wear on personalized
poker chips created with paper labels is like to sour milk. You'll
need to dump them in the waste disposal.
Vinyl Printed/Heat Sealed Personalized Poker
Chips
The sole way that I would advocate creating your
personalized poker chips is through a vinyl substrate printing process.
The printing is created on vinyl and sealed with heat and
lamination to the chip. The
vinyl bonds to the chips and it just does not come off.
You can scrape and scratch at the printing and you'll not be
capable of dislodging it.
I had a great set of personalized poker chips
done this way and they are pretty! The detail is fantastic
and the cost is very fair for this degree of workmanship.
Cost is close to $.50/chip. As of this writing, I have found only
one company that is doing
personalized poker chips this way, and that's at
pokerchiplounge.com.
Below is a listing of websites to avoid that use
paper labels for their personalized poker chips. I found these websites
after doing a Google search for personalized poker chips. I
emailed these sites and received sample personalized
poker chips from each. Here are the results:
